Continuing Education
Special student status is offered for those who would like to take one or another course at FST, on either a credit or audit basis. It is expected that students have a B.A. or equivalent. Special students complete a regular application and follow all the procedures outlined for those who wish to enroll in a degree program. Students in special status may receive at most 24 units for credit.
All programs offer the opportunity to focus on Franciscan topics in spirituality, theology, and history. Courses in these areas are available for those wishing to explore the Franciscan charism.
Those who request special student status may be pursuing ongoing education with varied objectives:
Sabbatical
Some students have a year or a semester in which they are free to study theology as an update or in preparation for a transition or change in career.
Enrichment
Some students have an opportunity to take one or two classes for personal/educaton/spiritual growth.
Certificate
Students in special status who complete two consecutive semesters of full-time study of theology courses at the Franciscan School of Theology may be awarded a certificate. Details about the certificate program are available from the Academic Dean.
