Special Student Status
Special Student Status consists of one or more semesters of individualized course work taken outside of a degree program. Courses may be taken for credit or on an audit basis.
Sabbatical Program. Lay and religious women and men, and priests on sabbatical may enroll as Special Students for one or more semesters.
Personal Enrichment. Special Student status is available to those wishing to pursue courses for personal growth or theological enrichment, or to update theological thought and practice.
Certificate Program. Certificates may be awarded to students who complete two consecutive semesters of full-time study. International students seeking to fulfill requirements for a year of study abroad may qualify for this program.
Future Degree Students. Students who intend to pursue a degree but have not yet selected a program may enroll as Special Students in order to begin taking basic courses.
Up to 24 credits may be transferred to a degree program.
Applying for Special Student Status
Applicants who plan to eventually enroll in a degree program must complete the full application process described above.
Applicants who do not plan to pursue an academic degree must provide all elements of the application packet except letters of recommendation, and must schedule an interview with the Academic Dean.
