Congratulations to the Graduating Class of 2018!

Congratulations to the Graduating Class of 2018!

On Saturday, May 26, family, friends, music and prayer filled the Historic Church of Mission San Luís Rey as the Franciscan School of Theology celebrated the Commencement ceremony. The men and women of this year’s graduating class came from as far as South Korea and as nearby as Oceanside to study at the Franciscan School of Theology.

FST wishes them the best as they advance into new careers, new studies, and new roles in their religious communities.

William Short, OFM, SThD, Professor of Spirituality presented the class of 2018 with a wonderful reflection.

Dear Graduates, we cannot see now where your journey will take you in the future. You will go your separate ways: to serve the Lord and the People of God in Korea, in Mexico, in northern San Diego County and beyond. Your paths will be different, but the One who leads you will be the same, keeping you united, of one heart and one mind, as St Luke tells us of the Church at Jerusalem after the first Pentecost. You will become the “Joy of the Gospel” in different cultures, speaking different languages, in different parts of the world, much like the Apostles who, beginning in Jerusalem, proclaimed the Gospel “to every creature.” May the Lord give you peace! – William Short, OFM, SThD

Transforming Heart and Mind. Changing the World.

The Franciscan School of Theology offers graduate degrees in theology (Master of Divinity and Master of Theological Studies) for men and women, lay and religious, preparing for many different forms of ministry in the Catholic Church today.
