Joseph Chinnici, OFM | President Emeritus | Professor of History
“Engaging the past so that it might inform the present and create freedom for the future; examining the people and events that have shaped the Church in the United States; relating the riches of the spiritual, theological, and social inheritance of the Franciscan vision to the needs of the contemporary world. These endeavors have been at the heart of my own teaching and scholarship for over forty years. For myself, the study of the people who have gone before us in their creative, challenging, illuminating, and struggling lives situates the present and reveals how a life of faith may engage the world of the Twenty-First Century.”

“Office Hours” is a series of interviews for prospective students to get to know the Franciscan School of Theology’s faculty outside of the formal environment of the classroom.
An avid hiker and tennis player, Dr. Pryds is the Academic Director for the online Master of Theological Studies – Franciscan Theology and an Associate Professor of Spirituality and History at the Franciscan School of Theology. Her favorite book is Razor’s Edge by William Somerset Maugham; she’s read it every other year since college. Keep watching to hear why!
You may find Br. Moises at one of the coffee shops near campus enjoying a fresh brew while connecting with students. To say he is passionate about people and diversity might be an understatement. Keep watching and let us know if you agree.
“Sometimes trying something out is the way to know if it works for you.” Dr. Day likes to hike and appreciates running marathons, but not training for one. She also loves cooking and eating while enjoying family time.
“My great passion is to help others unpack the revolutionary insights of Francis and Clare of Assisi. It is amazing to realize that these two friends had a vision of an inclusive Church community 800 years ago. I am delighted to be at the Franciscan School where I have the freedom to explore their wonderful vision and do that in a community of brothers and sisters trying to live that vision today.”
