Learn Where Life is Beautiful

FST is located on the pristine campus of the University of San Diego, where the beauty of God’s creation is all around you.

A Unique Experience

The fabric of San Diego is woven from many threads, resulting in a multicultural tapestry that is reflected in the region’s architecture and celebrations. When students immerse themselves in all there is to learn and experience in the region, their boundaries are expanded—and their worldview enhanced. Proximity to the Mexican border gives the city an international perspective reflected in the region’s architecture, culture, and celebrations. USD’s campus is located 22 miles from the US-Mexico border, which is one of the many reasons that students graduate with a deep understanding of the global landscape and an international perspective. And the weather’s pretty good too! With an average daytime temperature of 70.5 degrees and sunshine nearly 300 days per year, San Diego is one of the few places in the world where residents can catch a wave in the morning, drive a few hours to ski or play in the snow, then head for the desert in the evening.

Student Clubs and Organizations

FST and USD offer plentiful campus amenities. The Student Life Pavilion has award-winning dining spaces, a market, inviting outdoor spaces, and many venues for student organizations. For active sports, Campus Recreation offers up intramural leagues and club sports.

LEARN MORE

Academic Life

The Franciscan School of Theology is committed to providing the highest quality education to candidates for professional ministry in the Roman Catholic Church, to those pursuing careers in social service and theological education, and to those seeking opportunities for enhancing their knowledge of Christian faith and the practice of ministry.

FST by the Numbers

FST measures its effectiveness in a variety of ways. Individual courses are assessed in relation to established learning outcomes, and a consolidated outcomes program measures the effectiveness of degree program learning goals, which reflect our institutional learning goals. In addition, FST uses the Association of Theological Schools Entering and Graduating Student Questionnaires to track student satisfaction with their educational experience and collect information about their plans for employment after they graduate.
