Juliet Mousseau, a Religious of the Sacred Heart, is Vice President for Academic Affairs and Professor of Historical Theology at the Franciscan School of Theology. She joined the faculty in 2021 after teaching at the Aquinas Institute of Theology in St. Louis, Missouri.

Sr. Mousseau received her doctorate at Saint Louis University and her licentiate at Santa Clara University’s Jesuit School of Theology. Her research focuses on the twelfth-century Abbey of Saint Victor in Paris, whose theological pedagogy has inspired her own teaching. She also has a special interest in contemporary issues in religious life, which she explored in Prophetic Witnesses to Joy: A Theology of the Vowed Life (Liturgical Press, 2021) and for which she is often invited to speak. She has recently begun extensive study of the foundation of her religious order, the Society of the Sacred Heart, beginning with a biography of the foundress of the order, St. Madeleine Sophie Barat: Leadership in a Divided World (Paulist Press, 2025). Her current research continues to explore the spirituality of the Sacred Heart, focusing on the message of Jesus: “Learn from me, for I am gentle and humble of heart,” a favorite of St. Madeleine Sophie Barat.

History of Christianity I: The first part of a two semester course in the history of Christianity the semester will have two modules of 6/7 classes each: the development of early and ancient Christianity, and medieval Christianity, Gregory the Great to the eve of the Reformation.
