Eucharist and Ecology: Pope Francis’s Liturgical Theology of Caring for Our Common Home

The Lecture
This lecture will explore Pope Francis’s thought on the relationship between Eucharist and ecology, especially as articulated in his encyclical, Laudato Si’, and in his apostolic letter on liturgical formation, Desiderio Desideravi. It will also briefly reflect on Pope Leo and the “Mass for the Care of Creation” released in July 2025.
The Speaker
Christopher M. O’Brien, PhD, is an Assistant Professor at the Franciscan School of Theology whose research focuses on the intersection of liturgical history, sacramental theology, and the lived experience of worship.
