The Franciscan School of Theology’s Vice President for Academic Affairs, Sister Juliet Mousseau RSCJ accepts a new assignment.

After six years of exemplary leadership, Sister Juliet Mousseau RSCJ will be departing the Franciscan School of Theology (FST) in December 2026 to assume the position of Chief Mission Officer of Sacred Heart Schools in Atherton, California.

During her tenure at FST, Sister Mousseau contributed her scholarly and administrative expertise toward advancing this graduate school and seminary in numerous ways. Among her achievements were leading the development of two online, fully accredited, graduate degrees in collaboration with the University of San Diego (USD), guiding the process of renewed institutional accreditation, supporting faculty and staff growth and development, and generously offering her own scholarly gifts through publications and presentations within both the local diocese and beyond. As she worked to enhance and expand the reputation of FST, student enrollment more than doubled. Sister Mousseau’s professionalism, warmth, empathy, and creativity have been among the gifts she offered FST, gifts that she will surely bring to her next assignment. This community extends to her our deepest gratitude and congratulations as she prepares for a new call to service.

FST has initiated a national search for the next Vice Present for Academic Affairs. During this transition, Mary E. Lyons, PhD, a former Dean of the Franciscan School of Theology and President Emerita of the University of San Diego, will serve as the ínterim Vice President during the Spring 2027 semester.

National Search for Vice President for Academic Affairs

The Franciscan School of Theology is seeking a dynamic academic leader to serve as its next Vice President for Academic Affairs. Based on the University of San Diego campus, the Vice President serves as FST’s chief academic officer, providing leadership in academic planning, faculty development, accreditation, enrollment, and student success.
